Happy New Years 2010

Happy New Years everyone!

New Years almost here!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I had a very nice one.

I made a ham for Christmas day. It was so yummy. My husband and I already ate all the leftovers. That pineapple on the tip of the ham was done by my husband. He put so many cloves on the poor pineapple. He's so funny.

I can't believe that it is already over and the new year is almost here. Well, have a wonderful week and a very Happy New Year.

Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas =)

Christmas is already here and I am so excited to eat and spend time with friends and family. I hope that all of you have a wonderful holiday season and the happiest of New Years.

by Clement Clarke Moore

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house

Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;

And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,

I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow

Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,

I knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.

More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now, Prancer and Vixen!

On, Comet! on Cupid! on, Donder and Blitzen!

To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,

With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too.

And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof

The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.

As I drew in my head, and was turning around,

Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,

And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;

A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,

And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!

His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!

His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,

And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;

The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,

And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;

He had a broad face and a little round belly,

That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,

And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;

A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,

And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,

And laying his finger aside of his nose,

And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;

He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,

And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,

"Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."

The Blizzard on 2009 - NYC

Over this weekend I was really hoping that it was going to snow. The news had been talking about this storm all week, and it would be our first in the area.

Well, I am happy to say that it did snow (a lot for the area) and I was so happy. They are calling it the 'Blizzard of 2009' although I personally just think it's a snow fall. =) I guess it's the Buffalo in me.

I took some photo's of my dog 'Puppy' in her jacket and winter hat before we went outside to play in the snow. We took her to the park to run through the snow and she had so much fun. She was jumping like a rabbit through the snow hills.

Below are photo's that I took on Friday, just before the storm started of the view from my back window.

I then took more photo's on Saturday morning showing the snow from the same window.
On a side note, the backyard in the photo that is the farthest away and not showing any snow, is Madonna's new backyard. She's not living there yet because she is remodeling the whole house.

Happy Winter!

Snow might be coming!

I am so excited and happy because this weekend I might actually get my wish and see some snow. =) We are supposed to get a snow storm so maybe it will feel like Christmas time. I need snow for Christmas or it just doesn't feel right.

I grew up in Buffalo, NY and we are known for our snow, so I really do enjoy it. The above photo is from one of the years in Buffalo. I currently live in NYC and we don't get that much snow here. Last year it snowed like twice and it was a slush mixture one of those times. I am getting excited and ready for the snow to come this weekend. I feel like a kid again. I want to go sledding and make snow men. I think I will take my dog to the park as an excuse for me to play in it.

It's really funny to me when NYC gets snow because they shut the whole city down for a couple of inches. I remember my first Christmas here in NYC. My husband, well he was still my boyfriend back then, and I made plans to go out to dinner. The news said that there was a storm coming but being from Buffalo, a storm doesn't stop us. The city was covered in a blanket of white snow and it was a lot. Enough that we had to shovel out our car the next morning.

We walked from our apartment to the strip with lots of restaurants. And to our surprise, everything was closed. It was so funny to us because nothing closes in Buffalo when it snows. But we were new to NYC and didn't understand that they don't get the snow like Buffalo did. It was fun though because we were the only ones walking in it and we had a good time.

Well, I am ready for some snow and hopefully tomorrow I will get my white wonderland.

Painting in Progress and Fine Art Prints

Yesterday, I pulled out a painting that I started a few months back, and actually worked on it. This painting is going to one of my favorites, I just know it. I have been so busy with other projects that I haven't had time to work on it.

The painting is of a wind up doll in a victorian room and was inspired by my trip to a New Orleans plantation. I am using a range of blue and brown colors and can not wait to see the finished product.

I also have been researching places to have fine art prints made of my artwork. As of right now, I do all my prints in house which come out so lovely with a white border for easy framing. The only problem with this, is that it can get time consuming when I need a whole bunch. The in house printing is great for when someone buys a print because then I only need to print out 1. For large batches, this does not work (at least for me).

I started selling art on the street, well I did it once. I was only out for 2 hours because it was so frigid and so windy that I had to pack up a go home because I couldn't feel my toes. I plan on going out again, possibly this weekend depending on the weather, so I need prints.

Well, I am off to do more researching on best quality and best price. =)
