Google + Personal and Fanpage

I have joined the social networking site Google + and created a fanpage to showcase artwork and current art updates. Google + is a fairly new networking platform, similar to facebook, in which you post status updates and show pictures.

Google + is very user friendly and easy to create. I made my page in about 5 minutes. To create a business / fanpage, you must have a personal page first. Before starting, you need to register with google and sign up for an account. It is free and if you use blogger, then well you already have an account.

There are options to link your blog posts so they update directly to your google + page, similar to facebook. Very convenient and easy. I have not figured out if there is an option to link it to twitter yet, a future thing for me to do.

I recommend having one. I hear that it will help with google search engine ranking, as well as extra exposure. It is so simple to create, so why not.

I just joined a wonderful online community called The Fairy Society. This art site is filled with so many talented fantasy and fairy artists. You can view artwork on my page.

The Fairy Society is An Enchanted Social Networking Community created for Friendship, Selling & Shopping.

I just stumbled upon the site while doing an internet search for fantasy art sites. I can't believe it took me so long to find this community, but that's me. Always the last to find things =)

Betty Crocker Holiday Recipe - Caramel Sauce

Since the holidays are upon us, I wanted to share a nice and easy gift idea. When I'm not creating art, my other passion is cooking. I not only come up with my own recipes, I also get many great recipes from online.

One of my favorite recipe sites is Bettycrocker.com. Now I love sweets and baked goods, but unlike cooking where you can add a pinch here and there, baking requires measurments. I might be a great cook, but I will admit baking is not my speciality. Because of this, I turn to recipe sites like Betty Crocker, to help me.

This recipe called Divine Caramel Sauce, is easy and for any beginner. It also makes a great last minute gift idea. Make sauce and place in a glass jar. Place a bow, bells, or even an ornament for an added holiday decoration

Ready in 45 minutes.

Ingredients..

1 cup light corn syrup
1 1/4 cups packed brown sugar
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1cup whipping (heavy) cream

Directions..

In 2-quart saucepan, heat corn syrup, brown sugar and butter to boiling over low heat, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in whipping cream; heat to boiling. Cool about 30 minutes. Serve warm. Store covered in refrigerator up to 2 months. Reheat slightly before serving if desired.

Extra tip via Betty Crocker..

Divine Toasted Pecan-Caramel Sauce: Add 1 cup chopped toasted pecans after cooling in step 2.

Rottweiler Puppy And Black Cat

I wanted to share with you latest addition to our family. Last month, we adopted a four month old rottweiler puppy. Her mother was rescued when she was pregant, and named Penny. A few days later she gave birth to eight puppies, seven survived. This is Penny with her litter below.

My husband and I adopted one of the girl puppies and decided to name her Lizzy. Now naming her was not an easy task. I came up with Alice and Ophelia, my husband liked Olive. These were just three examples of many. Finally on the way home, with the new puppy car sick in the back seat, we came up with Lizzy.

Lizzy is now 5 months old and growing fast. A strong puppy and very stubborn. I already have a hard time walking her because she is so strong. I am a very petite person, so that makes it even worse. My husband bought Lizzy a cute pink harness. This worked for two weeks, until she decided to eat the harness instead. Maybe it tasted good. Now I am using a training collar. It is good for pups who pull and are stronger then their owners. So far so good. She is walking better and only pulls if she gets startled or scared, which is often because of all the loud noises of the city.

Lizzy has already taken over the house, but in a good way. I can do without the pee pee accidents and chewing, but this is too be expected with a puppy. Our last dog Puppy, who passed away in October, chewed up a rocking chair when she was a puppy. Lizzy so far has only got to a flip flop, wash clothes, and the handle of the recliner. She is learning though. Rottweilers take longer to mature, but once they learn, they make the best companians to a family.

Oh and our cat, Penelope, is still deciding if she wants to play or not with Lizzy. It's so funny. Lizzy goes up to Penelope, wagging her tail, begging to play. Penelope looks, puts her head up, and walks away. Penelope thinks she is too much of a diva to play. Penelope got along well with our last dog, but they both had the diva mentality. This included lying on the couch and bed, eating, and getting rubbed. I have a feeling once Lizzy calms down out of her Puppy stage, that penelope will be happy to teach her some tricks.

Fantasy Jewelry Boxes - Glass Tile Pendant Necklaces

I wanted to share with you my beautiful handmade jewelry boxes and glass tile pendant necklaces. I hand paint and hand assemble these in my home studio. Each are unique a one of a kind.

The wood boxes are painted with acrylic paints and varnished for long lasting protection. I add details to each box including bows and flowers, making each OOAK. Some boxes have miniture prints of my artwork on them.

The inside of the box is also painted with acrylic paints. A hinged lid and gold plated clip hold it close. I signed and dated the bottom. The jewelry box dimension size is 2 x 2.5 inches and 1.25 inches deep. The image opening is 1.5 x 1.5 inches.

These trinket boxes are perfect for keeping jewelry, coins, hair accessories, sewing pins, buttons, and much more. Place on a dresser, night stand, or bookshelf.

The glass tile pendant necklaces are also homemade in my studio. Each pendant has a small print of my artwork on them. The pendants meaure about 1 x 1 inch (2.54 x 2.54 cm). A long satin ribbon is provided with each pendant to hang from ones neck or even as a bracelet.

This is a beautiful mermaid original painting. This fantasy art features a big eyed girl sea creature, sitting under the bright blue sky on the sand at a beach. She has a long navy blue fin, brown hair, fish scales, and ocean bubbles.

Hello Everyone!

I hope that the Fall season is going great for everyone.

Mine is turning out wonderfully and I have some nice art updates I wanted to share with you.

Brand New Rag Dolls

I have many new rag dolls that are available. These dolls are so cute and are all handmade in my home studio by me.

They make perfect gifts and go great with any home decor.

Each doll is OOAK (one of a kind), unique, and come with a printed 'Name' tag that insures the dolls authenticity.

No two dolls are the same.

Sewn both by hand and on a machine, the dolls are made using cotton fabric and stuffed with poly-fil.

I paint each face with acylic paints and they measure about 15 inches (38.1 cm).

Halloween Bird Art - Mermaid Painting - Works in Progress

Today I have two works in progress to show you. The first is in time for Halloween. It features three birds in their witch hats. The next is of a mermaid siting on a beach.

Both drawings measure 5 x 7 inches and will be painted using acyrilc paints on textured watercolor paper.

Handmade Rag Dolls With Hand Painted Faces

I have been working hard on some new rag dolls. They are all handmade and have hand painted faces.

I sew each with both a machine and by hand. I use a variety of colorful fabrics, bows, ribbons, and buttons.

I use acrylic paint to decorate the dolls faces. These rag dolls are OOAK (one of a kind) and all unique. No doll is the same.

Each doll comes with their own name.

Vampire Art - Gothic Fantasy Original Painting

My latest original painting features a vampire girl with black bats flying over a full moon.

Entitled "Yellow Rose Vampire" she has big eyes that are pink, black hair, and a blood red dress. Yellow rose flowers are next to her on the ground. Perfect for Halloween or that vampire lover, you can find her in my Etsy store.

Fantasy Art Exhibit - Mytagart Bird Tag

I am honored to be apart of the fantasy art exhibit from the Fantasy Artists of Etsy, faeteam. Entitled "Sirens Song" this exhibit shows of member artwork dealing with the mythology theme of the water and song. My two pieces included are "The Fates" and "Golden Mermaid" shown below in the middle.

Rag Dolls and Fantasy Artwork for Sale

I have been working so hard this past month on creating some new rag dolls and listing items for sale in my stores.

My little hands have been sewing away, first by putting the rag dolls together and then by adding the accessories. I have about 12 dolls that are all ready to have their faces painted. With my rag dolls I hand painted each face making them truly one of a kind, OOAK.

The Fates - Greek Mythology Painting - Original Art

I have a new fantasy big eye girl painting that I just finished yesterday titled 'Red Hood'. It has a fairytale theme from Red Riding Hood, perfect because the movie just came out not to long ago. It can be found for sale in my Etsy shop.

It is done in acrylic paint on canvas board and is varnished. Painting measures 8x10 inches and can be placed on a frame stand or in any standard frame. I sign the painting on the bottom right hand corner in paint.

Leprechaun Art - Pot of Gold - Saint Patricks Day - Fairy Painting

I finished my latest painting yesterday afternoon and I just wanted to shear it with everyone. This painting has a St. Patrick's day theme and features a cute leprachaun girl holding a four leaf clover and sitting next to her pot of gold.

Titled Pot of Gold, the painting measures 8x10 inches, and painted in acrylic paint on textured watercolor paper. I use colored graphite for some of the details and I really like how the two mediums turned out together.

Merchandise will be added today to my Zazzle shop with this image on it just in time for St. Patrick's Day. The Original will be placed for sale today in my Etsy store.

I just completed my latest painting yesterday and I am so happy how it turned out.

Buffalo Trip - Florida Vacation - Fantasy Art Update

I am back from a long week vacation. My husband and I visited our hometown of Buffalo, NY which was so nice because we saw family and friends. We also went to Florida for about 4 days and the 70 temperture weather was a nice change from the snow we have been used too.

Our Florida resort was very nice and we mostly sat in the pools and hot tubs. We also walked the many nature trails behind our resort which is shown in the photo above. I am standing near the beautiful spanish moss trees that surrounded the area. We also went on an airboat ride of the swamps and I was so excited to see some gators. The airboat ride was one of the best touristy things I have ever done.

Now onto the Art Updates...

Valentine Art - Fairytale Painting - Works In Progress

I wanted to shear with you my latest (WIP) work in progress that I started painting today. I am so happy with the drawing and can't wait to see the finished product.

This painting is going to feature a girl who made a candle filled shrine in hopes of finding her valentine. I am using acrylic paint on an 8 x 10 inch wooden panel. I am going to title it Valentine's Shrine.

I can not believe that it's already the New Year of 2011, so to celebrate I decided to change my blog / site colors and banner.

My favorite color is pink so I did this for the background of the banner. I also added victorian scroll to the tops and bottoms of my link images for my Ebay store, rag dolls, and screen prints.

I figured new year, new website (well not all of it). I am also working on the store I have on this site, so hopefully I will have all items up and running soon.

Wind Up Doll Art - Big Eyed Girl - Painting

I have a new painting that I am so excited to shear with everyone.

I started this wind up doll painting sometime ago and had to put it aside for awhile because I was working on some other paintings and projects. I have been looking at it the whole time though and couldn't wait to finish it. This painting is one of my favorites and I am so happy I completed it.

This painting is not for sale because I have decided to give it to my mother for Christmas. She saw the painting when it was still a work in progress and loved it. She has been asking me, "Did you finish that painting yet?" and when she and my family came down to visit me in NYC for Thanksgiving, she showed everyone the WIP (work in progress).

I varnished the painting and found a silvery golden frame to put it in. The frame compliments the painting so well and it has little decorative details in each corner which are shown in the picture below.

Well hope that you enjoy the painting as much as I do.

I finished another Holiday winter themed painting. This one has a snow white theme, based on the popular children's fairy tale.

Happy Halloween 2011 - Trick or Treat

I hope everyone had a wondeful and fun Halloween.

The little costumes were amazing and so cute. I was so happy to get more kids at my house then last year even though it was freezing out. My favorite costume had to be a little strawberry that was on a baby. It was such a great idea and probably handmade.

I dressed up as Snooki from MTV's Jersey Shore which I pulled off because I'm super short =) and my husband was a white suit bandit. We were with our friends (their photo's are below) and had a really fun time.

Autumn Witch Art - Vampire Works In Progress

Ghost History - Do You Believe In Ghosts

Do you Believe in Ghosts?

This is a question that many people find to be controversal do to religous views or because of lack of scientific evidence.

A ghost can be defined as the spirit or soul of a dead person or animal, usually a family member or friend. I did a web search for 'Ghosts defined' and many definitions came up including Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary here.

I have always been a believer in the spirit world and I try to learn and research as much as possible when it comes to this 'other' world. I have had the usual experiences that many people choose to ignore. Many photo's taken in my childhood home that was built in 1910, where my parents still live today, have orbs and unexplained lights or glows above our heads. We like to believe these are family members joining in our celebrations and daily lives. Many of these photo's are taken on holidays or on special occasions. Below are two photo's taken Thanksgiving 2009 and both have orbs in them. One orb is over my sisters face and the other is next to my dad making a goofy face near the door.

My dad had an experience when he was a young child. His father, my grandfather, died when my dad was only 5 days old. He was hit and killed by a drunk driver while walking home from a local Irish pub. My dad believes that his father came to him one day while my dad slept on the living room couch. My dad explains that he felt his fathers presence and saw his fathers face which woke him up. My dad remembers being lifted up off the couch and held by his fathers spirit. My dad never knew his father and never really new what he looked like, but my dad new it was him. He insists still to this day that he wasn't dreaming and that he was too scare to be sleeping. I should also say that my dad is a very intelligent and reasonable man, so for him to say he had this experience happen to him, I believe him even though my mom is skeptic.

I am also a huge history person and love hearing about different events that have happened in the past. I am lucky to have a husband that shears in this obsession. With every little weekend trip or vacation we take, we always try to go on some sort of tour that involves history. Many of these tours are ghosts tours and are always entertaining. Below are photo's from the amazing Mark Twain house & their Graveyard Shift Tour and The New Orleans Vampire Tour. The New Orleans photo is of St. Louis Cathedral which has a few orbs floating around it. This Cathedral is very beautiful but also has a pretty horrible story attatched to it involving the making of the city and quite a few dead soldiers as well as many others which can be found here. To find more on this Cathedral all you have to do is search it on the web and you will find a lot.

I have many more photo's along with a lot more stories and tours that I plan on shearing with you. I am adding a Ghost / History series to my website to add some more fun to the site. Art Contest Winner - Pink Fairy Art

I am so happy and proud to say that I am one of the winners of the iprintfromhome.com image contest with my image Pink Petunia.

Iprintfromhome put on an image contest to choose the artwork for their new '2010 edition of our Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit.' which the send out to customers to showcase their different papers.

The contest consisted of 150 submitted pieces of artwork, and from these pieces they narrowed the images down to put up for public voting. The voting went on for 2 weeks on Facebook and also through e-mailing. The 8 images with the most votes won the spots to be in the '2010 edition of our Paper Sampler and Calibration Kit. '.

Iprintfromhome is also planning on showing the 8 winners in an art show at their store in Tonawanda, NY. The opening reception is goig to on Dec. 1 2010. To view the 8 winners please go here.

Mark Twain House - Halloween Tour - Hartford Connecticut

This weekend I went to Hartford, Connecticut and while I was there I had the opportuniy to go on the Mark Twain Graveyard Shift ghost tour. I try to go on a ghost tour with every city I visit and when I found out about this one, I was too excited.

The Mark Twain house was just amazing. The details of the wood and the painting on the walls were simpling exquisite. I can only dream of living in a house so beautiful. There was an indoor fountain area with plants and window walls off the library and now Christopher (my husband) wants to do this in our future house. =)

The ghost tour that we went on is only available in the month of October and very informative. The tour guide talked about the different spooky and unexplainable stories that the staff has encountered. She herself said that she is skeptic when it comes to spirits, but she had an experience were she saw a male figure moving from one room to another and can not explain what or who it was. The house has had many paranormal observers visit including Ghost Hunters / TAPS.

Mark Twain was also a very interesting man and there is a museum that is also on the property with copies of his book, notes, photographs, and much more.

The Pink Noise Art Zine #4 came out yesterday and I am so proud to be apart of it again. Last zine issue I had some of my artwork displayed in it, but this time I have alittle more. Music is Art Festival in Buffalo, NY

Last week while on vacation I went home to Buffalo for a few days and during one of those days I went to the Music is Art (MIA) festival. This is an annual festival that was started and is put together by fellow Buffalo native and Goo Goo Doll Robby Takac. It is located behind the Albright Knox art gallery on the back lawn area.

This festival has many great local talents including artist vendors tables, music, and dancing. I try and attend this festival every year and I think that I am going to try and get into in next year as an art vendor.

New Orleans Vacation - Southern Plantation Tours

I am back from my little vacation with my Christopher. We went to New Orleans and had the best time. I absolutely love that city with the people, the food, the art, and the street performers. Nothing compares in my eyes.

When we weren't eating =) we went on tours and explored the city. We went on a Vampire tour which was very interesting and kinda creepy. I bought a book after about New Orleans ghost and vampire history. I also took this photo below which was outside of the St Louis Cathedral and is of the Jesus statue. I thought is was an amazing picture.

We also went on three plantations tours. I love looking at how people lived on these huge and beautiful sugar cane plantations. The three we went on were the Laura plantation, Evergreen plantation, and the San Fransisco plantation ( all shown below in order ). We went to Oak Alley last year. I can not wait to return to New Orleans and hopefully I won't have to wait to long.

Purple Fairy Art - Fantasy Jewelry Box

I have been painting some jewery / trinket boxes and as I finish them, I will be placing them up for sale in my Etsy shop.

I listed the first one up for sale yesterday. This one has an image of my painting 'Out of the Pansies fairy' which has a whimsical fairy sitting on purple flowers. I hand painted little purple flowers along the top and sides of the box. The box opens and closes with a hinge and latch.

Mouse In My NYC Apartment

Sunday night, while creating some new zazzle products and merchandise, out of the corner of my eye I saw something scurry right paste me. I looked up and saw a little gray mouse running from under my radiator, along the baseboard, and into my kitchen.

I jump up on my chair, like those sterotypical house wife images, still holding my computer in my hands. I think about it now and have to laugh at how scared a little mouse made me. Oh and my dog Puppy, a huge Rotty, did nothing. Yeah I know she is not a cat but still. Puppy just looked at me up on my chair like "what are you doing?"

Anyways, I new that I had to get it out and I would NOT kill the poor little guy. I called my husband at work, of course he had to be working that night, and asked him what to do. He told me to put towels in front of all the doors trapping the mouse in the kitchen, so I did that. I also put a cardboard wall up in the hall to the kitchen. My plan was to scare him out from under the stove or where he was and push him out the door.

Now I live in NYC in an apartment building and I have never had a mouse in my apartment that I know of and really do not know how he got in. I had the front door open waiting for this furry little guy to run out but finally realized that this was a bad idea because with my luck I would let more in this way. =)

Well after like 20 minutes of waiting, I gave up. I saw him again about 2 hours later. He ran from under my refrigerator to the door, bumped into the door, and ran back under the refrigerator. That was last time I saw him.

My husband and I searched for him yesterday and found nothing so I do not know if he got out or not. I am thinking he is scared under my sink somewhere. I refuse to put down those traps that kill them. I know that he will probably die anyways because our building, like many NYC buildings, have an exterminator come in twice month if not more, but I can not kill him.

Well, I am hoping that he got out and am goig to forget about him until I see him again.

Handmade Rag Dolls - Julia Finucane

I have some rag dolls to show you. I call these hand sewn, all homemade dolls my 'Droopy Heart Rag Dolls'. Each is sewn by me and then the face is hand painted in acrylic making these dolls unique and one-of-a-kind. I add different accessories including bows, nuttons, and ribbon. I also sew an upside down 'Droopy Heart' on each doll making them official. Each doll has it's own name as well.

I am also taking cutom doll orders for these dolls.

My husband and I are very superstitious and we believe in 'Those that go Bump in the Night', so we will be super careful today. We are planning on watching a scary movie tonight but we have no idea which one.

Well hope everyone has a happy and safe day and watch out for those black cats.

*I actually do not believe in the black cat superstition because I grew up with an all black cat named Midnight and we lived a happy 18 years with her. So if you do see a black cat, he might actually just need a good home.

Finished Do It Yourself - DIY - Handmade Fabric Headboard

A few weeks ago, I wrote that my husband and I were working on making a fabric headborad for our bedroom for our first year anniversary. Well, we finished it and it is now hanging on our wall. I got the directions from the DIY website here.

We purchased the plywood at our local home depot store. They also cut the wood acording to our measurments for us. This made the plywood square and I wanted round design, so my father in law cut the shape for me and drilled the holes for the buttons.

We also purchased the fabric, a blue textile fabric with a thick texture. My husband chose a white satin fabric to make the fabric buttons out of which was a great chioce because the satin was thin and easy to move into the buttons.

We wanted to make the headboard soft and smooshy so we got a foam mattress pad and folded it twice to place under the batting. We also used large, long staples so they would go through all the layers.

Putting the buttons through the headboard was the hardest part of the project and took both of us. I pushed the thread through the hole while he pulled it through tightly to make the button pushed in. He had to hold it tight while I staled and taped the button.

To hang the headboard we used mounting hinges or mounting hooks which are working great. Overall I am very happy and pleased with the finished product.

DIY - Do It Yourself - Handmade Fabric Headboard

My husband and I are planning on making a new headboard for our bed this weekend. We got the idea from our visit to Niagara on the lake and our stay at the Prince of Whales hotel. This Sunday is our 1st wedding anniversary and this our present to eachother. Below is a picture from the hotel.

We plan on making a victorian looking fabric headboard with the buttons. I need to find a fabric that matches my bed linens, so I decided to use a medium to dark blue fabric. I would love to find fabric that has a texture to it as well. I found these photo's below from DIY sites and both are unique with there shapes.

We looked up directions on how to make this headboard and hopefully it isn't that hard. I think it will be a fun project to do. I also plan on using antique looking buttons instead of matching fabric, but we will see. I will be sure to put the finished prduct up as soon as it is finished.

New victorian big eye girl acrylic painting named Claudia by Julia Finucane

Yesterday I finished my latest painting. It is of a little victorian style girl that was inspired by my visit to Niagara on the Lake. She has big blue eyes and cute little bows on her outfit.

I named her 'Claudia' and she is done in acrylic paint on canvas and measures 8"x10." I will put her up for sale on ebay to go along with my othr art for sale.

I am currently working on a new 8"x10" painting. I plan on doing a set of these smaller 'portraits' alll in acrylic paint.

I got my insperation from my resent trip to Niagara on the Lake. The hotel I stayed at had a victorian theme, which I love, with old victorian painting and portraits up on the walls. I plan on doing my own set of victorian 'themed' protraits of big eyed, doll like girls.

I just joined the art group Artists in Buffalo which is for local Buffalo NY area artists. This group helps to support, promote, and shear ideas with fellow artist. Art galleries can also join and post upcoming shows and evnts. There is a list of monthing festivals, art openings, events, and workshops.

Each artist can upload a brief bio, their website and email, and upto 10 images to be viewed. It is a realli nice site to find Buffalo artists.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Canada vacation

So this past weekend my husband took me on a mini vacation to Niagara-on-the-Lake and it was absolutely amazing.

Now I have been there plenty of times with my family. My parents have been taking me since I was a little girl. I use to play with all the other children in the large park fountain when it was a hot day. My family will try to go every summer to Niagara-on-the-Lake to enjoy the many local shops, the restaurants, the lake, and the historical little town surrounded by wine country.

My husband has never been there, so it was a new adventure for him. I took him to my favorite shop 'Just Christmas' which is a large Christmas themed store that is open all year round. we bought a Niagara-on-the-Lake bulb ornament and a police officer nutcracker.

We stayed at the luxurious 'Prince of Wales Hotel' which words can't even describe. (That is the photo at the top of this post). We stayed in a premium suit with a Victorian canopy bed and hot tub. The pool was a salt water tub so my skin didn't dry out or smell like chlorine. We felt like royalty. They even gave us oranges in the room to snack on.

My husband also bought tickets to the Shaw Festival to see the play 'The Women' which was also very fun. He knows how to spoil me =) I had so much fun and so did my husband. He is already planning our next trip.

Big Eyed and Ball Joint dolls

Last year I came across a site that sells cute little big eyed dolls. I found this site while researching Japanese ball joint dolls, after someone had told me that the girls in my paintings reminded them of these dolls. I do not believe that this site sell ball joint dolls, but they sell cute big eyed dolls.

The site is called ‘The Valley of the Dolls’ and they sell many different kinds of dolls including Blythe Dolls, fashion dolls, and a new line of Vampire dolls.

I love dolls. When I was a little girl, I collected porcelain dolls. I always dreamed of being a doll designer with my own doll line. I still have my childhood dolls tucked away at my parents house until I have the room to display them. When this time comes, I plan on collecting a few of these 'big eye' and ball joint dolls.

Now back to the ball joint dolls for those of you who do not know what they are. These dolls have jointed legs and arms that move. They have their hair done, are in fashionable outfits, and have large eyes as well.

So many sites that sell these dolls online. To view them, just search 'ball jointed dolls' and many will come up.

This weekend was really a good one, that I didn't want it to end.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Saturday was my Birthday and my husband took me on a picnic in the park for breakfast. It was such a beautiful day outside, 75 and sunny, that it made the picnic perfect. For dinner we went to Uno which is always very yummy and after we watched 'Sex and the City' the movie.

Sunday was also a very beautiful day. The weather has been cooperating with no rain. My husband ran a marathon in the morning for his job with a BBQ afterwards. It was a 5K run so it wasn't to far for him and all the money earned went to a special charity.

At night we went out to dinner and sat outside enjoying the sun. We always try to enjoy the weather when we can because they are now calling for rain tomorrow and Wednesday.

Well, thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday on facebook and elsewhere. Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did =)

Whimsical art handmade buttons

I made some handmade buttons the other day of images of my whimsical art. I got a button making kit with button maker for Christmas, but just haven't had the chance to actually make any buttons until the other day. Making the buttons were very easy, as long as I had the directions in front of me =) and it was fun.

Sorry that the image is kind of dark and blurry. My apartment had very bad lighting because outside was raining and gloomy.

I am planning on making more of these whimsical art buttons for the upcoming summer craft fairs I plan on doing. They are so cute and would make a great accessory for a tote or bag.

Room simulation template for art selling

I started selling on Ebay a little while ago and am constantly learning new ways to make my listings look more presentable.

I use HTML coding to make my ebay posting templates and I use photobucket to add as many photo's as I think is needed. I also created a 'Me' page so that my customers can learn and view more about me with links to my blog.

I like looking at the different ideas that other artists use to list their art. One idea that I see often is the simulated 'scaled' room with art hanging on the wall. It is a way to give customers an idea of how the art will look on a wall with different furniture.

I decided to give it a try and found this site called art showroom here. It allows the artist to upload their art into a simulated room. You can add different furniture, change the wall and floor colors, and add accessories such as plants and lamps.

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's

I hope that every mother out there had a wonderful Mother's Day. I unfortunately could not be with my Mother this year Because we are not in the same city =( but I called her a few times to wish her a Happy Mother's Day and to see what she was doing.

I wanted to give her something special, so I painted her a fairy candle holder figurine. I painted the fairy in a pale blue dress with a white flower candle holder. The figurine came out really cute and my mom really liked it so I actually am planning on painting a whole bunch for my next art festival.

I didn't use it for my mom's fairy, but I want to get glitter paint to add to the figurines. I think the glitter will give the fairies a little something extra.

Vampire novels and television shows

These past couple of months I have been obsessed with the whole vampire craze. I blame it on the CW television series 'The Vampire Diaries.' I am hooked on that show and the two lead vampire brothers are not that bad to look at =)

Any ways, along with watching the vampire diaries, I read the entire 'Twilight Series' and just started the Ann Rice novel 'Interview with a Vampire.' There has been much criticism with the Twilight Series because it moves away from the tradition vampire folklore, but I thought the books where very good. And of course Ann Rice is a very powerful writer.

I was going to start 'The Vampire Diaries' book series, but I enjoy the show to much for it to be spoiled for me. I do plan on reading the book series, but only after I watch the episodes.

So, if you are interested in these type of books, I would recommend any of the above mentioned.

Mothers day buffalo Indie market

This weekend is Mother's day and to celebrate it, the Buffalo Indie Market will be having it's arts and craft show on Saturday, May 8, 2010. It will be held at the Buffalo Botanical Gardens and is free to the public along with access to the gardens.

Unfortunately, I will not have a vending table at this indie market but I am planning on being at the summer markets. If you are in the Buffalo NY area for Mother's Day, go check out and shop the local handmade artists for that special mom in your family.

Trip to Savannah, GA

This past week I have been busy and haven't posted, but I haven't forgotten about my blog. I have still been listing on Ebay and am going to list more today.

I am also planning a vacation (hopefully) to Savannah, GA. I have never been to Savannah so this will be a new spot for me. I hear that it is beautiful and cannot wait to see the southern oak trees. I also want to go on a ghost tour, spend some time at the beach, and walk to river walk.

I am still researching the city but am getting excited about visiting.

DIY glass tile pendant kit

A couple weeks ago I saw a tutorial on how to make glass tile pendants with art on them and decided to give it a try.

It seemed easy enough and I have always loved making jewelry, so I decided to combined my art with jewelry making. So many artists do this and I think it is a great idea. Not everyone can afford to pay for an original painting but, a necklace may be affordable.

I purchases the DIY kit (shown above) from ebay buyer gaila6870 and I am so happy with the items I received. I recommend buying from her. She sells all different jewelry supplies and also scrabble tile kits.

What was included in the kit, were 5 square glass tiles and bails, 1 round glass tile and ring, flower pattern paper, diamond gaze, and E600. You get everything you need to create your own pendants.

New art store in South Buffalo

I wanted to write about a new store that I will be having some stuff in. The store is called Blue Eye Creations and is having its grand opening on April 17, 2010. This new boutique is located in the heart of South Buffalo, NY.

The store is going to be carrying arts and crafts from many talented local Buffalo artists. I will have some of my 'Droopy Heart' dolls and some 4"x6" fine art prints on display.

My rose petal lamp shade

Last month I wrote about my lamp shade that was stained and how I planned to fix it with fake rose petals. Well, I finished the lamp shade and I am very happy with how it turned out. I wanted to shear with you the finished products.

I hot glued cream and pink rose petals to the shade and finished the top of the shade with a light violet ribbon. Hope you like =)
